INSIGHTS - Promoting public-private partnerships to improve last-mile vaccine delivery

According to the Africa Resource Centre for Supply Chain, nearly half of all patients cannot access the medicines and health products they need in the right quantities at the point of need. African public health systems have a big challenge that affects over 1.3 billion people in Africa. Many patients cannot access the medicines they need. Somehow, they can get products from the private sector, like toothpaste, cool drinks and sim cards. This is because many private sector supply chains are complex yet efficient. On the other hand, public sector supply chains are often complex, inefficient and fragmented.

Looking at the success rate of the private sector - exploring areas of synergy with the public sector so the best practices from the private can be infused/integrated into the public sector to enhance the public sector’s performance to reduce the population of Zero-dose children and ensure life-saving vaccines and medicines get to the underserved and hard-to-reach populations.

Despite the progress made in these partnerships, It is important to note that these partnerships have their own unique characteristics but also have their own challenges and limitations. In this vein, the 15th episode of the Insight Webinar will focus on promoting public-private partnerships to improve last-mile vaccine delivery.

The episode will x-tray challenges that have hindered the scaling of these partnerships, its impact on vaccine delivery especially in remote areas and practical recommendations to improve such collaborations.

We look forward to your contributions in what will be another impactful episode of Insights Webinar!
