Insights Learning Forum 2024: Digital Transformation in Public Health Practice: Innovations and Impact
The Insights Learning Forum (ILF) 2024, held on July 31st at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, was a landmark event that brought together thought leaders, practitioners, policymakers, and innovators in the field of digital and public health. Themed “Digital Transformation in Public Health Practice: Innovations and Impact,” the forum provided a dynamic platform for exchanging knowledge, exploring cutting-edge technologies, and fostering collaboration to drive positive change in public health systems across Africa.
A Warm Welcome and Visionary Opening
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Atef Fawaz, Executive Director of eHealth Africa. In his address, Atef emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration. “Let’s make this an avenue for exchanging information, ideas, and learning from each other. We can only improve the system,
outcomes, and impact by collaborating and sharing our knowledge,” he said. Following the welcome address, Ota Akhigbe, Director of Partnerships and Programs at eHealth Africa, delivered the opening remarks. She highlighted the forum’s significance in reshaping the public health landscape in Nigeria. “This event is more than a conference; it is a convergence of strategic minds focused on reshaping the public health landscape in Nigeria. We have brought together experts, practitioners, and policymakers to share ideas, exchange knowledge, forge connections, and inspire innovation,” Ota remarked.
Inspiring Keynote Address
The keynote address was delivered by Adam Thompson, Co-founder of eHealth Africa and CEO of EHA Clinics. Adam reflected on the journey of developing digital, data-driven interventions over the past 15 years, particularly during the Ebola campaigns and vaccine supply chain management. He shared the realization
that despite these innovations’ success, they hadn’t significantly transformed the broader health system. “We recognized the massive issue of quality, not just access, in healthcare. Our goal was to deliver exceptional, patient-centered primary care,” Adam stated.
He highlighted the importance of digital tools like GetCare in supporting team-based care and enhancing communication among healthcare providers.
